L’Atelier Ecluse est un espace consacré à la pratique contemporaine des métiers du livre. Ses ateliers combinent les infrastructures et savoirs-faire nécessaires à la reliure, la gravure, et à l’impression typographique. Fondé en 2022 sur les rives du canal Lachine, il cohabite avec l’héritage industriel et l’histoire manufacturière marquant ce secteur de Montréal.
Toutes nos lignes de journaux sont fabriquées entièrement à la main dans nos ateliers. Nos produits contiennent exclusivement du papier fait main 100% coton, idéal pour l’écriture et le dessin avec médiums secs ou humides. Chaque étape de réalisation met en pratique des outils et méthodes traditionnels, assurant le calibre d’exception de notre travail.

Atelier Ecluse specializes in book craft, bringing together under one roof the facilities required for handmade papermaking, fine art printing, and bookbinding.
We offer a range of high-end stationery products, prized for writing, drawing, painting, and various other artistic practices. We also provide custom production services for printing and bookbinding.
Located on the banks of the Lachine Canal, Atelier Ecluse exists alongside the industrial heritage and manufacturing history that have shaped this part of Montréal. We believe in the excellence of traditional craftsmanship and its relevance today.
Printmaker
We use our letterpress machines to print all our materials using traditional methods. Each print is done by hand, with time-honored techniques, ensuring an authentic finish and impeccable artisanal quality.
Bookbinder
All our journals are handcrafted using traditional methods. Every step — from folding to finishing — is carried out in our studio with the utmost care, ensuring an authentic, durable object infused with artisanal expertise.
The founder
Yannick Allen-V. is a contemporary artisan and artist based in Montreal. After several years working in the world of paper and bookbinding, he founded Atelier Ecluse in 2022 as a meeting platform for practitioners interested in the subject of books.
Our three lines of journal are entirely made by hand in our ateliers. Our products contain exclusively 100% cotton handmade paper, ideal for writing and drawing with dry or wet medium. Each step of fabrication employs traditional techniques and equipment, ensuring the exceptional caliber of our work.
