Rachel Grenon was introduced to the art of ceramics in British Columbia, where she attended a master workshop at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in the summer of 1997. She then worked as an apprentice for potter Vincent Massey, from whom she learned a lot. Back in Québec in 2004 after these formative years, she decided to devote herself entirely to her passion.
In 2009, three of her big bowls of the SWIMMERS series were selected to represent Canada at the prestigious Chungju Biennale, in South Korea. Her work as a ceramic artist was also presented at Wanted Design New York, in 2014 and 2015.
Very sensitive to the reality of artisans, she founded, in 2010, the Roche Papier Ciseaux Bromont contemporary craft fair, in which some twenty exhibitors from across Quebec participate each year.
In the spring of 2019, she had the privilege of being invited to an artist residency on Vancouver Island hosted by the Comox Valley Art Gallery (CVAG), the North Island College and the McLoughlin Gardens Society. Her work was presented at CVAG as part of the group exhibition “Hold being held” in June 2019. This experience is profoundly changing her vision of her art.
A curious and prolific artist, Rachel Grenon is fascinated by the possibilities of clay, which leads her to embark on new projects and explore new concepts.
