Annamarie Beckel habite Kelligrews, à Terre-Neuve. Elle a d’abord travaillé comme spécialiste du comportement animal pour ensuite se diriger vers l’écriture scientifique. Elle a œuvré pendant 14 ans comme écrivaine, photographe et éditrice. Les voix de l’île est son troisième roman.
