About us

Hello, my name is Ayako Goto.

I was born into a family of kimono seamstresses, and my father was a traditional Japanese construction craftsman. I grew up surrounded by fabric, tools, and the quiet rhythm of hands at work. As a child, I played with cloth and thread, without knowing that this world would always stay with me.

Life later took me in and out of Tokyo many times. The city was fast, full, and constantly moving. But somewhere along the way, I began to long for something slower, something more tangible.

I eventually chose to leave that life behind and moved to Montreal, Canada. Here, for the first time —a place where I can truly settle.

I started by repairing and altering clothes in my neighborhood. Through each conversation and each piece I touched, I found myself returning to something deeply familiar.

From there, I began creating my own bags, which my boyfriend named Tokyo Bag.

Each one is made slowly, by hand. And every time I finish a piece, I feel a quiet certainty that I am exactly where I am meant to be.
