About

Olivier Bernard (B.Pharm, M.Sc, FOPQ, M.S.M.), also known as the Pharmachien, has been a pharmacist since 2004 and a Fellow of the Ordre des Pharmaciens du Québec since 2022. Since 2012, he has focused on science communication as an author and illustrator, on social media, in the media and in books. His work has received several distinctions throughout his career. Since 2019, he has also been the producer of the podcast Dérives, the most listened-to podcast on Radio-Canada OHdio. Its fourth season, Le Labyrinthe de Lyme, was a finalist for the 2025 Michener Award, the most prestigious Canadian journalism award.
In April 2026, Billie Eilish stated in an interview that, in her view, it is impossible to both love animals and eat them. Her comments, coming from an extremely popular artist and major figure in the animal rights movement, sparked controversy, particularly among public figures who share similarly progressive and social justice-oriented values.
Olivier Bernard will break down this controversy using critical thinking concepts, drawing on both philosophy and science, with the goal of fostering healthy debates about animal exploitation.
