About
Join Montreal-based Canadian-Ukrainian composer and multi-instrumentalist Bogdan Gumenyuk for the Montréal release concert of Stream of Hope.
Blending traditional Ukrainian wind instruments — including sopilka, trembita, tylynka, double sopilka, and cow horn — with contemporary jazz, improvisation, spoken word, electronic sounds, and acoustic ensemble, Gumenyuk creates a distinctive sound rooted in Ukrainian musical heritage while reaching toward a broader contemporary language.
The concert explores themes of memory, resilience, identity, and hope.
Featuring:
Bogdan Gumenyuk — Ukrainian wind instruments, saxophone, spoken word, effects
Paul Shrofel — piano
Mike De Masi — bass
Jacob Wutzke — drums
🎫 The concert will also serve as a fundraiser in support of Ukraine. Copies of Stream of Hope will be available for purchase at the event, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Ptakhi Foundation, which provides tactical medical supplies and support for people on the front lines in Ukraine.
