On Sunday, November 1, join local artisan Sheryl Shore of Mile-End Soap & Candle Supply for an afternoon of beeswax candle dipping in the spirit of Shabbat. Guests will be guided through standard candle dipping methods as they create tapered Shabbat candles for their Friday evening rituals.
During the workshop, Shore will also provide context on candle making, the life of bees and wax production, and her personal experiences with the craft. No prior experience required! Alternate candle making options are available for those who do not observe Shabbat: candlesticks, birthday candles, small tapered candles, etc. are encouraged as well.
Tickets are $30 plus tax. All necessary materials provided. Due to limited capacity, advanced registration is encouraged.
About Sheryl:
Lured by the intoxicating aroma of beeswax, Sheryl Shore began dipping candles 25 years ago. Shore is committed to valourizing the work of bees who create the wax, and brings a modern take on the ancient craft. Shore grew up with a very strong cultural Jewish identity, and the nuanced relationship she has with her traditional background has led her to create candles that may contribute to peaceful contemplation.
