Montréal Serai
17 numéros
Montréal Serai is a non-profit webzine focused on arts, culture and politics. We began in 1986 as a local theatre and arts collective that went on to produce a print magazine before going digital. Our driving force: creating new communities, new arts, new solidarities, where voices once relegated to the margins take centre stage.
Montréal Serai aims to stretch beyond colonial mindsets with thoughtful essays, interviews with artists, elders and activists, reviews, commentaries, short stories, poems, artwork, videos, music, and much more. Neither strictly local nor focusing on current affairs, our magazine gives space to alternative perspectives that transcend and challenge mainstream concerns.
Based in Montréal, known far longer as Tiohtiá:ke, our webzine is recognized as an inclusive and welcoming space in which both emerging and established artists and writers can engage. Serai (from the Persian word, caravanserai) means a resting place for travelers.
