About

______

Élise Desaulniers is a writer, speaker and animal rights activist. A well-known voice in the vegan community, she has been advocating for animal rights for several years through her books and thought-provoking Substack columns, among other platforms.

After a decade of strong visibility, veganism seems to be going through a period of backlash. But social movements have often experienced similar cycles: rapid growth, backlash, demobilization, and then reorganization.

Drawing on examples from feminist, LGBTQ+ and civil rights movements, this talk explores what allows a cause to survive periods of decline and what this can teach us about the vegan movement today.

How can we talk about animals in an increasingly polarized context?

And what needs to be preserved to make the next wave possible?

Come hear Élise speak about this topic at the Montreal Vegan Festival🌱
