What we keep, why, and what we don’t do.

Without an account

You can browse everything without an account. No audience measurement or targeted advertising loads without your consent.

Cookies and audience measurement

If you accept in the banner, Google Analytics counts visits: page views, duration, device type, approximate city. It sets the _ga and _ga_… cookies (2 years). These measurements are processed by Google, including outside Québec and Canada, and kept at most 14 months by Google. The pc_temoins cookie remembers your choice, “yes” or “no”, for 6 months; it holds nothing else. You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of every page: the Google Analytics cookies are then deleted. The site team is never measured.

Measuring our ads

When we advertise on Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s pixel tells us how many people arrive from those ads and how many sign up. It loads only if you accept the banner, together with Google Analytics, and sets the _fbp cookie (3 months) and, if you arrive from an ad, _fbc (3 months). It sends Meta the page viewed and, when you sign up for the site or the newsletter, the mere fact of signing up: never your email, your name or anything you typed. This data is processed by Meta, including outside Québec and Canada, under its own rules. A “no” in the banner, or later under “Cookies”, keeps it from loading and deletes these cookies.

Server logs

Our server, in Montréal, keeps the IP address, the date, the page requested and the browser, without any cookie, for site security and to count visits: at most 10 years.

Contact form

When you write to us, we receive your message, your email and, if you give it, your name, to reply to you. They are kept for the length of the exchange, then at most 2 years. Opening the form sets a technical session cookie, needed to send it; it is used for nothing else.

Advertising

Boxes present Quiz Infernal and Planimonde, other Physalis Design sites. They are plain links: they set no cookie and load nothing from another site. You only visit them if you click.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to a region’s newsletter, we keep your email, the region, the language, the dates of your subscription and confirmation and the page you subscribed from, to send you the newsletter every week. Without confirmation, your address is erased after seven days. Each newsletter has its own unsubscribe link: your address is then erased from the list right away. We don’t sell or share your address.

With an account

We keep your email, display name, year of birth (to check that you are 14 or older; it is never shown), the first three characters of your postal code if you give them (never the full code; to show you events near you, never shown), preferences, calendar and follows to run the site. If you arrived through a campaign link (an ad, a newsletter), we note that campaign’s name with your account, to learn what works. We don’t sell or share any of this data.

When you say “Going” or “Interested”, your username and profile picture show in “Who’s coming” on the event page, when hovering the number of people. Your first name, last name and email never do. To stay anonymous, check “Stay anonymous” in My profile: you still count, without username or picture.

Your event photos

When you send photos on an event page, we re-encode them on our side: the GPS location, the device and other details hidden in the file are removed. Before being published, each photo is read by a nudity-detection model that runs on our server, in Montréal: it is not sent to any other service. A doubtful or reported photo is checked by the team. Your username shows under your photos, unless you chose to stay anonymous. You can remove a photo at any time; deleting your account erases all your photos. A fingerprint of the image (a string of digits, not the image) is kept to recognize a refused photo sent again. When you report a photo without an account, we keep an encrypted fingerprint of your IP address, so the same report only counts once.

Third-party content

Maps (OpenStreetMap) and audio or video players (YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Mixcloud) come from other sites. They only load when you click them.

The “Follow on Facebook” button is first a plain button of ours. When you click it (or right away, if you accepted cookies in the banner), our Facebook page module loads from Facebook, which may then set its own cookies and know you saw the page, under its own rules. We count clicks on this button, without cookies and without anything about you.

Your location

When you ask for events near you, your location stays in your browser.

Your rights

You can view, correct or delete your data at any time, from your account or by writing to us. Deleting your account erases your personal information; what you added to the calendar stays, without your name.
