About

As the WKP Kennedy Gallery enters a new chapter with the unveiling of its newly renovated space, we take this opportunity to reflect on the people, artworks and stories that have shaped its history.

A New Era: A Permanent Collection Spotlight presents a thoughtfully curated selection of significant works from the gallery's Permanent Collection, celebrating its artistic legacy and the generations of artists, curators, directors and community members who have contributed to its evolution.

Established through a bequest of historical artworks from the Kennedy family, the Permanent Collection has grown through acquisitions, donations and gifts. It serves as an important cultural and educational resource, preserving artistic histories and strengthening connections between the gallery and the community it serves.

This exhibition is the culmination of months of archival research, cataloguing and documentation undertaken by Hannah Fournier Kast, FedNor Data Archival and Collections Specialist, with contributions from Jainil Brahmkshatriya, NOHFC Content Creator under the guidance of Jennifer Allison, Director/Curator of the WKP Kennedy Gallery. Through this work, previously documented histories have been revisited, new connections explored and important steps taken toward strengthening the gallery's understanding and stewardship of its Permanent Collection.

A New Era also marks Hannah Fournier Kast's curatorial debut, her research and thoughtful approach to selecting and interpreting artworks bring renewed attention to the stories held within the collection, highlighting the importance of continued research, preservation and accessibility.

As we celebrate this new era for the WKP Kennedy Gallery, we recognize that caring for a Permanent Collection is an ongoing responsibility—one that connects our past to the present and ensures these artworks and their stories remain accessible for generations to come.
