Emily St. John Mandel est l’autrice de six romans, dont le plus récent est La mer de la tranquillité. Parmi ses œuvres précédentes, L’hôtel de verre a figuré sur la liste des livres préférés du président Barack Obama en 2020, a été finaliste au prix Scotiabank Giller et traduit en vingt-trois langues. Station Eleven, finaliste pour le National Book Award et le PEN/Faulkner Award, a remporté le prix Arthur C. Clark en 2015, entre autres honneurs. Le livre a également été traduit en trente-six langues et fait l’objet d’une série télévisée sur HBO Max. L’écrivaine vit à New York.
